N-Connex is a module based, IP67 rated network solution for harsh environments. N-Connex provides high-speed connectivity to the Gigabit Fibre backbone, allowing the system to be easily scalable, ensuring a underground spaces and their surface infrastructure can be effectively covered.
The base system modules include Distribution, Power, Battery, Alarm and Intercom, though the configuration will change depending on the project requirements. The base modules include:
-
Distribution – provides connectivity to a one (1) Gigabit Fibre backbone via four (4) fibre ports. Also includes eight (8) managed PoE ports and two (2) standard Ethernet ports. A key feature of N-Connex is the inherent protection of all receptacles provided by the enclosure design. All ports are clearly marked and keyed where necessary.
-
Power – this module converts 110/240 VAC to 48VDC which is used to power all other modules and remote PoE devices. The Power module will also charge the optional Battery module, which will ensure the system continues to run in the event of a power outage.
-
Battery – battery backup in the event of power failure. For a typical load it will maintain power for eight (8) hours.
-
Alarm – a module combining both a siren and strobe, as well as an initiating point for Emergency evacuation. The module is powered over PoE and is controlled through the network from our DM5 Software package. The siren is rated for 110dB and the strobe is a high intensity unit with a range of colours available.
Bolt – high performance Access Point that is used to provide WiFi Connectivity to the Network. The Bolt supports 802.11 b/g and n protocols. The WiFi signal that is provided can also be used with IP Phones or Smartphones and other devices.
-
With the base modules in place, a world of opportunity opens up to monitor operations and improve efficiency with extension modules including:
-
Tracking – Using wifi tagging , personnel, plant and other assets can be tracked and displayed in the digital map and tag board.
-
Control – Digital and Analog Input/Output capability to control and monitor electrical equipment, eg. Pumps or Fans.
-
IP Radios – These units are equivalent to standard two way radios, but offer significant advantages. Additionally, the WiFi signal that is provided can also be used with IP Phones or SmartPhones.
-
Radio system integration – RoIP gateway to bridge existing UHF and VHF radio to the N-Connex IP radio.
-
Cap Lamps – With the battery contained within the light, the NLT Genisis caplamp comfortably last a 12 hour sift and can come with integrated tracking tag.
-
Monitoring – Geotechnical and environmental monitoring of sensors with the ability to view and react to readngs in real-time.
